Cheshire woman to climb Kilmanjaro for dementia charity

 By Matt Richardson:

A Sandbach woman will conquer her fears climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for charity.

Leila Atlasi, 26, of Brock Hollow, will climb nearly 4 miles to its summit, while facing her fear of heights.

Her inspiration was sparked from a secondary school trip to Kenya where she could see the mountain from an orphanage where she was volunteering.

“I knew that this was something I wanted to do. Dementia is something that covers a lot of diseases and the number of cases is growing," she told RedShift Radio.

Leila hopes to raise £5,000 for the Alzheimer’s society, a leading care and research charity for sufferers of dementia.

Reports show that the number of people affected by the disease is set to double over the next 20 years.

“They need our help more than ever. I will also be holding car boot sales to raise as much money as I can." Ms Atlasi added.

You can help by support Leila by donating here via Just Giving.
